| Gtk2 모듈 딸기펄에서의 깔끔한 설치법 |

로그인제로 바뀌어서 그런지, 두달정도만에 온 것 같은데 좀 썰렁한 느낌입니다. ^^
다들 잘 지내고 계신지요?
지난 4월에 32사단 훈련소로 4주간 기초군사훈련을 다녀왔습니다. 현재는 지방에서 공익근무요원으로 복무중입니다. 공공기관 공익요원이 아닌 복지시설 공익요원이다 보니, 바쁠 땐 엄청 바쁘고, 한가할 땐 엄청 한가하고.. 뭐 그렇네요. 무엇보다도 일이 계속 있어요. 아하하...
확실히 전 서울하고는 뭔가 잘 안 맞는 것 같아요. -_-;;; 8년 서울 생활 동안 얻은 건 병밖에 없으니...
다른 분들은 어떻게 지내고 계신가요?

IRC의 펄방도 가본지 너무 한참이고 - 미국이 아직 섬머타임을 시작않했기때문에 한국과의 시간차가 더 납니다 - 다음주부터는 섬머타임을 시작하니까 출근해서 펄방들어가도 어쩌면 많은 분들이 계실듯하네요. 펄방의 닉도 이곳의 닉으로 바꿔야겠습니다.

| Shea to Peace Corps. |
A few days ago, Shea asked me whether I can write a letter of recommendation to Peace Corps-- It was my pleasure! And she sent me a sample letter just for reference. According to the letter, I wrote a letter of recommendation, and got to Shea.
By the way, there were two ways of submitting recommendation to Peace Corps; one way is to write a letter and send it to Peace Corps, and the other is to fill out the form in the Peace Corps' homepage. Shea and I chose the latter, filling the form.
This afternoon, as usually, at the cafeteria in the International Center we met and finished the recommendation. Well... she really wants to go to and experience another world, and surprisingly she is working very hard-- I haven't known that until today.
I hope Shea gets a chance of being a member of Peace Corps. |

| 제 1회 펄 워크샵을 다녀와서. |
이번 여름 방학에 한국에 가게 되었는데, 우연히 워크샵 날짜가 그 사이에 있어서 참여할 수 있었다--사랑니를 뽑은 바로 다음 날이었다. 한동안 얼굴을 못 본 사람들과 얼굴조차 모르는 사람들을 많이 만날 수 있었고, 펄을 어떤 분야에서 어떻게 사용하고 있는지도 구경했다.
장소는 "토즈"라는 강남역에 있는 곳이었는데, 발표 공간이 비좁았으며--사람들이 꽉 찼으므로-- 사교를 위한 공간이 없었다; 흡연자들에게는 건물 바깥에 있는 계단에서 그나마 이야기를 주고 받을 수 있었다.
시간은 오후 1시부터 9시까지였고 중간에 저녁으로 샌드위치가 나왔다. 이는 주최측에서 준비했고 음료수는 토즈에서 무제한 리필이 가능했다.
프리젠테이션은 발표자마다 자신의 노트북으로 다양한 소프트웨어를 사용해 스크린에 쏘았으며, 조명은 괜찮은 편이어서 조명에 눈이 예민한 나인데도 그리 불편함을 느낄 수 없었다. 사람이 꽉 찬 관계로 좀 답답한 느낌이었다.
워크샵의 전부를 KLDP의 권순선씨가 녹화했다. 그리고 가끔씩 곳곳에서 카메라를 찍어댔다.
외모까지 포함해서, 가장 인상적이었던 사람은 KoBIC에서 온 박종화 박사였다. 바이오펄의 철학적인 부분을 소개해주었고 현재 KoBIC에서 어떤 식으로 펄을 사용하는지 보여주었다. 그런데 우연히도 내 주변에 앉았던 대부분은 KoBIC에서 온 사람들이었다.
워크샵이 끝난 후, 길가 한 술집의 노상 테이블에서 맥주/프라이드 치킨과 함께 간단한 뒷풀이가 있었다. 15명 정도의 인원이 남아 있었다. 밤 11시에 흝어졌다. |

| CPAN 테스터 |
| 좀 전에 CPAN 모듈 테스터 페이지(testers.cpan.org)를 살펴봤다. 이번 YAPC::NA 2008에서 어떻게 테스터로 등록하고 어떤 일을 하는지 그리고 테스터들의 상황이 어떤지 듣고 더욱 관심이 생겼다.
최근에야 알게 된 사실인데, 내가 테스팅이랑 배포 쪽에 관심이 있다는 것이다!
아마 조금 시간이 지나면 모듈 테스팅이나 배포 쪽에 어떤 활동이나 무엇인가 만들고 있을 듯~ |

| WebIRC를 대화를 나누고. |
| 오늘 저녁 일과를 마치고 펄마니아 사이트에 WebIRC를 설치하기 위해서 doc.perl.kr에서 사용중인 샘플을 둘러보러 갔다. 소스 코드를 보았다.
WebIRC로 로그인 한 후에, 사람들과 간단한 대화를 나눴는데 무엇보다 젊은 활기를 느낄 수 있었다. 얼마 전 동경에서 열렸던 YAPC ASIA를 계기로 더욱 그러한 것 같다.
나중에는 사람들이 나누는 대화를 그저 가만히 보고만 있었는데 머리속이 그리 간단치만은 않은 생각들로 복잡해졌다. 그 복잡한 생각들은 시간이 흐르면서 자연스레 자리를 잡으리라 본다.
펄 관련 문서나 정보 등을 동영상으로 만들어 볼 것이다. 잘 될지 그건 장담할 수 없겠으나 아무튼 만들고 어딘 가에 주기적으로 올려 볼 생각이다. (그럼 어디에??) |

| A stereotype of Michigan |
During the class, the professor who came from New Jersey told class that in mid Michigan there are some stereotypes to west Michigan. By showing in mid Michigan that they like UM and MSU each other, they reveal the stereotype to west Michigan.
So then I asked Shea, who is a native Michigan, what she thinks about it. She said, "they're too religious in my mind," and in addition "we have as well a stereotype to Upper Michiganians, which is hillbilly."
Shea got problem in describing me the "hillbilly" but I got the feeling about the word; not so good stereotype though. |

| Today is the first day of summer semester 2008. Sky was clear but a little cold. Any way!
I am re-installing Windows XP on my wife's PC which is in the living room because the PC would get errors from time to time, and thinking what I will do for this semester.

2. to daily practice (La)TeX, considering at least one graphical tool.
3. to practice English
4. for the matter of Mathematics; Calculus, Fundamental Analysis, and Linear Algebra

KimBob is a kind of roll in cooking; you can think of it as California rolls. KimBob is very convenient and popular in Korea for trips.
For this trip with my younger sister, she and my wife made some rolls of KimBob and we had that. It was nicer than I expected because it got down the number of eating in restaurants or fast food stores.
As you may probably know, having every meals in food stores for a trip is not so awesome! |

| At the Buddhist party |
| Today I got to the party which was the last meeting of Korean Buddhist this semester. Many students were there and took lots of small talk. Through the whole party, I sat around only one table and talked only with the guys in the table, but I think I should've moved around the tables at the party to talk with as many people as possible; in particular, So Hyun(소현), who since this upcoming fall will be a professor at U of Florida so that I might not see her any more. |

| Yesterday and today I enrolled for FS2008 and SS2009. It's final finally time to make my mind what Major at MSU I will take; I decided to switch from current Major Mathematics to Computational Mathematics.

The phrase "as if" and "as though" make me confused from time to time, so I asked Shea some really examples. That worked!
1. I felt all that as if they were crazy.
